Arctic Circle Assembly

A new work from the project «Gaskačázis» was presented during the closing of the Arctic Circle Assembly at Harpa, the world’s largest Arctic conference.

The piece is based on recordings made earlier this autumn at Saltfjellet in Nordland, Norway - an area with a strong Sámi connection.

Field recordings were combined with joik and slow, pulsating techno rhythms. The result is an atmospheric encounter between nature and electronic music.

Gaskačázis is a collaboration between iDJa (sound) and Eili Bråstad (visuals), supported by the Sámi Parliament, Nordland County Council, and Arts Council Norway.

The project explores connections between Sápmi and the Himalayas and is scheduled to premiere in mid-2026.
