Techno Áhčči

Techno Áhčči is an audiovisual art film created by director Elisabeth Rasmussen and Sámi electronic artist iDJa. The project merges Sámi cultural elements with techno aesthetics and was developed between Sápmi and Berlin with contributions from an international crew and volunteers.

The film follows two friends visiting Berlin, where encounters on the dancefloor trigger memories from Sápmi and themes of belonging and connection. It explores how new technology and electronic music can shape contemporary Sámi expression.

The production was supported by the Sámi Parliament, Nordland County, Hemnes Municipality, Arts Council Norway, Music Norway and the International Sámi Film Institute. It premiered at the Norwegian Short Film Festival in 2023 and has since been shown at film festivals internationally.

The soundtrack, including two extended DJ cuts, was released on streaming platforms in February 2023.
