Gieriesvoete
Gieriesvoete is a collaborative album created by iDJa together with vocalists and joikers ÅVLA and Ramona Linnea. The project was developed over more than two years and blends house, synthwave, disco, lo-fi and experimental elements with South Sámi joik.
Several tracks address environmental and cultural themes. Im veasoeh reflects challenges facing reindeer herding and the struggle of the reindeer calf, while Mother Earth comments on ongoing environmental pressure. Across the album, the artists emphasise presence, identity and cultural continuity.
The title means “love,” referring to love for nature, for Sámi culture and for the joik tradition. The album contains eleven tracks and was released through DAT. It was supported by the Sámi Parliament, Nordland County and Hemnes Municipality.
