Šuvva
Šuvva is an ambient EP built on field recordings from nature and sounds from Sámi handicrafts. The title refers to a soft, windlike whisper in Northern Sámi, which guides the tone of the release.
The EP draws on recordings from the mountain range of Okstindan, forests in Helgeland, duodji and joik. These materials are digitally processed into abstract soundscapes and reflect production techniques the artist developed while studying in Berlin. The project was released independently with support from the Sámi Parliament.
The six tracks explore different moods and places, from coastal recordings in Mearra to duodji textures in Rávdnji and the darker ambience of Skábma.
Šuvva was released on 6 June 2025 and has been rewarded with publication support from Arts Council Norway.
